Railway viaduct. Circa 1864. Coursed stone rubble with rock-faced granite arch-
rings. Ten round arches on rectangular piers. The centre pier is larger and
has pilaster buttress. Low parapets. The viaduct is 495 yards long and bridges
a steep wooded valley on the east side of the River Dart. The Dartmouth and
Torbay line was opened in 1859 and this section from Churston to Kingswear was
begun in 1862 and completed in 1864.
