Detached cottage. Early C17. Dressed limestone, half-hipped
thatched roof, brick and stone stacks. L-plan, gable end to road.
Single storey and attic, 2 windows. C20 planked door to centre,
large stone lateral stack with offsets to left, 2-light casement to
right, 2 eyebrow dormers with 2-light casements to attic. Left
return is gable end to road; two 2-light casements, the left one
in blocked doorway, one 2-light casement to attic, coped verge.
Rear has 3-light casement to ground floor, and 2-light to attic
with small light lighting stairs. Projecting wing to left of rear
has 2-light casements to ground floor and to attic. Right return
has 2-light casements.
Interior has deeply chamfered beams with stepped stops, open
fireplaces with chamfered timber lintels with rounded corners on
chamfered stone jambs, said to have smoke-blackened roof timbers
which suggests an earlier building open to the roof and
subsequently floored in C17.
