EGLOSKERRY BADHARLICK

8/30 Badharlick Cottage

GV II

House. Probably C17. Rendered and painted stone rubble and cob, partly slate hung
on left hand gable end. Bitumen coated rag slate roof with gable ends. Brick shafts
to stone rubble end stacks, the left hand stack with a cloam oven projection and the
right hand stack projecting.
Plan: House built down slope with ground rising to left. 2-room and through passage
plan with slightly larger room on right. Both rooms heated by end stacks. C18 or
C19 outshut across rear. Interior altered in C20 when the partition on the left hand
side of the passage was moved to the left and a stair inserted on the left hand side
of the passage.
Exterior: 2 storeys. Almost symmetrical 3-window front with C20 timber gabled porch
flanked by C20 3-light casement to left and C20 4-light casement to right. First
floor with C19 2-light casement flanked by two C19 3-light casements.
Interior: Fireplaces remodelled in C20. Floor joists to left hand room replaced in
C20 with heavy unmoulded cross beams and slighter unmoulded floor joists.
