Two adjoining farmhouses and adjoining shippon. C17, extended in the C18 and C19.
Painted rubble and cob walls with hardwood lintels spanning the openings. Asbestos
slate roof (formerly thatched) with rubble and brick stacks over the gable ends.
Plan: Overall irregular 1-shaped plan. 2-room-plan C17 house has late C18 or early
C19 shippon on its left and C18 2-room-plan house has entrance passage between the
room leading to C18 rear stair outshut flanked by later outshut on the left and later
lean-to wash-house on the right. Shippon projects at right angles to its rear. C18
house has later outshut on its right (rear).
Exterior: 2 storeys. Unaltered elevations (since the C19). C17 house has nearly
symmetrical window west-south-west front with ground floor openings spanned by
original heavy ovolo-moulded lintels with stops. Late-C18 or early-Cl9 wide 18-pane
3-light casement on the left, otherwise circa early-C20 casements in original
openings. C20 door. C18 house has nearly symmetrical window front with approximately
central dooorway. Ground floor openings are spanned by bowtell-moulsed hardwood
lintels. Early C20 door. Wide window opening on the right has original 18-pane 3-
light casement with thick glazing bars and pintails for former shutters. Other
windows are C20 in original openings.
Interior: Partly inspected. C17 house has original chamfered and stopped hardwood
ceiling beams, circa late C18 dog-leg stair and large fireplaces partly blocked. C18
house has slightly chamfered probably softwood beams. Roof structures not inspected.
