Service cottage to Great Fursnewth Farmhouse. Circa mid to late C19 incorporating C17 or earlier features probably from former house at Great Fursnewth. Slatestone rubble and C17 granite dressings. Slate-hanging at the front and left-hand gable end. Scantle slate on the front of the roof, rag slate at the rear. Outbuilt rubble stacks at the gable ends at left and right.
Plan: Originally 2 rooms (now 1 room) on the ground floor with fireplace in each room and a semi-circular-on-plan oven added clasping rear corner of right-hand chimney breast. L-plan stair with access from left-hand room against rear wall.
Exterior: 2 storeys. Narrow but tall symmetrical 2-window south front with central doorway. Chamfered granite doorway with straight cut stops and segmental head (possibly reduced). Chamfered mullioned windows. 3-light windows to ground floor, 2-light windows above. Victorian V-jointed door, 3-pane wooden casements, probably also Victorian.
Rear has 2 small first floor windows.
Interior: Simple interior with exposed joists and floorboards. Part of C17 probable lintel or jambstone reused as lintel over right-hand fireplace. even blocked. Slate floor.
Interesting small house design enhanced by the skilful reuse of C17 features.
