Lodge at entrance to Wilton Castle driveway, mid C19. White "Pease" brick.
Fishscale clay tile roofs with trefoil-pierced terracotta ridge crestings.
Single storey and attic, 3 bays. Central boarded door under wood porch with
hipped roof. Windows each have 3 pointed lights with chamfered wood
mullions, under moulded cornice; painted sills. Carved wood fascia board,
with spear pendants, at eaves. 2 gabled dormers with similar 2-light
windows, carved barge-boards and spike finials. Central corniced ridge
stack. Single-bay right return has canted oriel window on brackets, with
hipped roof, under 3-light window in gable; both have chamfered mullions.
Similar barge boards on returns. Mid C20 casement window inserted in gable
of left return. Late C20 single-storey rear extension is not of special
interest.
