Wrongly shown on O.S. map as: Wilton Old Vicarage. Vicarage, 1846, possibly
by Ignatius Bonomi. Now a private house. Chevron- tooled sandstone with
chamfered quoins. Welsh slate roofs with stone ridge copings. 2 storeys
and basement. 3-bay south entrance front, with one-bay service wing on
right. Central 6-panel door in Tuscan doorcase. Sash windows with glazing
bars in architraves with plain sills; middle window blind. Plain band
between floors; modillion eaves cornice. Shallow-pitched hipped roof with 4
corniced stacks. Lower, slightly-recessed service wing has 4-panel door at
left and one window on each floor, that on first-floor in half dormer. Left
return has 3 similar ground-floor windows and 2 first-floor windows, that at
right blocked behind sash. 3-bay garden front: ground-floor windows under
floating cornices on consoles. Right-hand window, on first floor, blocked
behind sash. Basement windows have 6-pane sashes. Service wing shows
round-headed stair window with raised surround, keystone and impost bands.
Interior: 6-panel doors in architraves, moulded ceiling cornices and
panelled shutters on both floors. South-west room on ground floor has
Classical fireplace surround with fluted pilasters, panelled frieze, dentil
cornice, and scrolled wings. Dogleg staircase with turned balusters and
fluted newels with corniced caps. Service wing has dogleg staircase with
stick balusters and handrail ramped at ends.
