Formerly farmhouse and farmbuilding now house: early C17 core, later
C17 addition to left, later C18 alterations, major additions late C19.
Coursed squared buff sandstone rubble with sandstone dressings.
Kerridge stone-slate roof, stone ridge and 4 stone chimneys.
Rectangular plan. 2½ storey, 6-bay front. 2 bays to left have a 2
and 3-light tall, chamfered stone mullioned window with lattice-leaded
lights. Above is C19 4-light mullioned window. Projecting rubble
bands at 1st and 2nd storey. Central 3 bays have a mixture of 2 and
3-light wooden casements and horizontal sliding sashes all with
glazing bars, except for timber framed bay window and porch. To right
is 3-storey, canted bay window with 12 and 16-pane sashes. To left
C19 lean-to stable'and former steam-driven electric generator house.
Interior: original core has small timber-framed walls with lathe and
plaster infill. Some chamfered ceiling beams with tongue stops, some
with flat and tongue stops. 2 roof trusses of tiebeam and 2 queen
posts to collar. Later work unexceptional.
