Stables and coach house: c1835 for William Clayton. Coursed squared,
buff sandstone rubble with Kerridge stone-slate roof and stone ridge.
Courtyard plan. 2-storey, symmetrical 5-bay front. Central bay steps
forward and has coach entrance under a rubble 4-centred arch. 2 tier
dovecot and a clock above. Parapet is castellated along the whole
front with flagged copings. Behind castellations is a hexagonal, open
wooden bellcote of plain wooden columns and a copper-domed roof and
weathervane. End bays also step forward slightly and have 3-light
stone mullions in upper storey. Remainder blank except for
ventilation slots. Inside courtyard west range has 4 elliptical cart
openings (all blocked) and 3 circular pitch holes with ashlar
surrounds above. North range is stables.
