Canal lock, 1805 by J Fletcher, Engineer (consultant Thomas Telford).
Blue and red brick in English Bond with stone dressing. Single
replaced metal upper (south) gate, pair of wooden gates and beams
north. Splayed approaches stone dressed but the stone copings to the
sides of the lock have been replaced by concrete and blue clay
bullnosed blocks.
