4/243 Nos 52 and 53, including front
- garden walls

House and adjoining cottage including front garden walls. Circa late C18 or early
C19. Painted rubble and cob. Asbestos slate roofs with brick chimneys over the
gable end (right) and party walls.
Plan: 1-room-plan cottage on the left; 2-room-plan house on the right, plus later
additions at the rear and on the right. Cottage has its entrance on the right.
House has entrance hall between the front rooms.
Exterior: 2 storeys. Overall 3-window front. Cottage (left) has 1-window front
with doorway on its right. House (right) has slightly asymmetrical 2-window front
with central doorway and intricate circa mid C19 latticed wooden porch. Circa early-
mid C19 doors and windows. Panelled doors. 12-pane hornless sashes. Small gable-
ended outhouse in front of left-hand side of cottage.
Low rubble-coped walls have pyramidal-headed rubble gate-piers.
Interiors not inspected.
