TINGRITH

TL 0032 CHURCH ROAD

Church of St Nicholas

Tomb chest, sited within SE angle formed by S aisle and porch of Church of St
Nicholas. Inscription to Robert Trevor Esq, d.1852, and family. Ashlar.
Ornate Gothic style. Elongated octagonal shaped chest with hipped 'roof'.
Approximately 1.5 metres in height. At each angle is a decorative buttress
rising to gableted and crocketed pinnacle, with small grotesque heads as drop
finials to gablets. Each side panel has moulded arch decoration surmounted by
Tudor flower frieze. The 'roof' ridge and parapet between the pinnacles have
Tudor flower cresting.
