Small country house. 1843, remodelled and extended c1856 by John Usher (1822-
1904). Yellow brick with stone dressings, hipped slate roof with wide
bracketed eaves. Irregular plan, 2 storeys, dominated by 4 storey square
tower. Italianate style. E elevation has variety of sash windows. 2 storey
semi-octagonal bay with finial to roof. Tower: ground floor main entrance has
4 panel door and vermiculated rusticated stone surround with camel's head to
keystone; first floor has pierced stone balcony bearing coat of arms, with
french windows in round-headed opening; each side of 2nd floor has paired
windows with round heads and bases; each side of 3rd floor has venetian
window; embattled top is c1910 replacement of pitched roof with decorative
