5/57 Elmsleigh and Jasmin Cottage
-
GV II
2 adjoining houses, now one house. Probably C17 house (Elmsleigh) on the left and C18 house (Jasmin Cottage) on the right. Killas rubble and rendered cob. Asbestos slate roof over house on the left, steep grouted scantle slate with brick chimney over the gable ends to house on right. Cast-iron ogee-section gutters.
Plan: Probably originally a 3-room and through passage house but substantially
rebuilt as 2 houses in the C18. Front doorway of through passage is slightly right of middle and adjoins a truncated lateral (possible hall) stack on its left. Remodelled in the C20 with 2 large rooms on the ground floor.
Exterior: 2 storeys. Overall 4-window front. Irregular 2-window front on the left and nearly symmetrical 2 window front with approximately central doorway on the right with old 4-panel door and old 4-pane horned sashes, otherwise C20 doors and windows. Lateral stack, doorway and house on right project forward at the front.
Interior: No early features visible where inspected.
