Farmhouse. C15, altered late C16 and C20. Timber framed on a rubble plinth;
thatched roof with overhanging eaves, half-hipped at west end; off-centre
rendered stack. Open hall house; cross passage with hall and parlour to east
and service room to west. Single storey and attic in 'eyebrow' dormer. 3 bays,
C20 casement windows. C20 lean-to conservatory to the right; inside is a
chamfered doorframe with a 2-centred head. Tension brace at east (left) end.
Interior. Hall: stop chamfered beams and joists; internal jetty at parlour end and
shoulder headed doorframe; jowelled post on north wall; fireplace with cambered
and chamfered wooden lintel. Passage: stop chamfered beams and shoulder headed
doorway. Roof: tie and collar beam trusses, all with windbraces. An
extremely rare example of timber framing in this area of predominantly stone
built houses. (Hall, L. The Rural Houses of North Avon and South
Gloucestershire, 1983). .
