5/11 Brook Cottage.

II

Cottage: early C17. Timber framed with brick nogging, concrete tile
roof and 1 gable brick chimney. 2-room plan with entry against the
fireplace. 1-storey and attic, 2-bay south front. 8 by 2 small
frames with 2 passing braces. Door at left end with planted hinges.
2 4-pane windows and tiny 2-light window to attic. End walls in brick
with original trusses. Timber-framing of rear wall intact.
Interior: entry against brick baffle. Shallow inglenook with
chamfered, cambered bressumer. Exposed joists and quarry tile
floors. Trusses of tiebeam and 2 diagonal struts. Wind braced
purlins.
