Road sign post, late C19. Black and white painted cast-iron. An
octagonal post with midway shield marked CCC and with a moulded cap.
The cap supports three flat cast-iron direction indicators, with
raised black capital letters, on a white background. These read
Ridley, Bickerton & Broxton with A534 clipped above and Wrexham
clipped below (pointing west), Acton & Nantwich with A534 clipped
above (pointing east) and Spurstow 4½, Bunbury 5, Beeston 6, (pointing
north-west). The direction indication and clipped road number plates
have scalloped outer corners and are secured by nuts and bolts. A
ball finial, on a vase moulded support, seals the top of the hollow
post.
