Former inn now 3 dwellings. Mid C18 with early C19 additions. Coursed,
squared magnesian limestone, stone slate roof. 2 storeys, 1:4-bay front with
parallel range across rear having wing to rear right. Original 4-bay house
on right has plinth and doorway to bay 3 with 6-panel door and 4-pane
overlight in recess beneath moulded hood set on shaped corbels, above the
hood a lintel with raised keystone; 16-pane sashes with projecting sills and
lintels with raised keystones (ground-floor, bay-2 window narrowed). Added
end bay on left has similar windows with cambered-arched heads. Right end of
roof has later ashlar gable copings and large, shouldered external end stack
with rendered shaft; left end of roof is hipped with 2 rendered ridge stacks;
similar stack to ridge of left return.
Known as the Drovers Inn until c1870 (Speight p 436).
