Public house. Early C19. Ashlar magnesian limestone, Welsh slate roof. 3
storeys, 3 x 3 bays; occupies corner site with right return facing Victoria
Street. Plinth. Doorway to right of centre has fluted wooden doorcase and
margin-glazed overlight in reveals beneath stone cornice on consoles; to left
of door a recessed apron panel and projecting sill to a sash with glazing
bars beneath plain lintel. Bay 1 has a 16-pane sash with recessed apron
panel and flat arch; bay 3 has sash with glazing bars and recessed apron
panel in position of former doorway. 1st floor: projecting stone sills and
flat arches to 16-pane sashes; bay 3 has a dummy sash with glazing bars. 2nd
floor: 6-pane sashes with projecting sills and flat arches; dummy sash to bay
3. Paired wooden gutter brackets to hipped roof with brick stack to rear of
ridge. Right return: central window originally a doorway as front bay 3 but
retaining cornice on consoles; other windows generally as front.
