3/7 Town Head Barn

Barn. Dated 1675. Slobbered rubble, stone dressings, stone slate roof. 2 storeys,
2 bays. Waggon entrance to right of centre has chamfered surround and segmented
head; moulded keystone is dated and inscribed: R
T I; plank doors. Massive corbels
are notched to take hood, now a C20 replacement. Right-hand entrance has chamfered
surround, flat head and plank stable door. On upper floor is loft entrance to left
and right; slate lintels, plank doors. The front also contains a number of
breathers, most of which are now blocked. Left-hand kneeler. Two extensions to
the right, the first of which has a C20 window and c. C17 entrance with chamfered
surround, and similar surround to loft entrance which is slightly lower than loft
of main barn. On extreme right is C19 lean-to.
