Garden walls with attached summerhouse and garden shed and gateway. Early -
mid C19. Coursed rubble, ashlar, cast iron and wrought iron. Walls have
gateway in west wall, summerhouse in south-west corner and garden shed in
south-east corner. Tall coursed rubble walls with slab coping to west, east
and north of garden, the main gateway flanked by convex quadrants. Lower
rubble wall with segmental ashlar coping to south of garden. Intermediate
and junction piers with classically-moulded caps and cast-iron finials.
Summerhouse of coursed watershot rubble, with curving rear wall in angle,
and canted front with keyed round-arched openings; stone brackets support
slab cornice; parapet with ashlar coping; inside, corbelled slab ceiling and
3-sided seat with cast-iron "bamboo" frame. Garden shed of similar plan but
with boarded door with arcaded panelling in north side, and blind round-
arched openings in other 2 sides, that to west with vent with cast-iron
grille. Gateway: flanked by chamfered rusticated ashlar square-plan gate
piers with hemispherical cast-iron finials; pair of wrought-iron carriage
gates with segmental-curved tops and spear finials with scrolls to rails hung
from hollow square-section lattice gate posts of cast iron; pair of wrought-
iron side gates matching carriage gates. Ironwork by James Flint of
Richmond who lived in Brompton Grange.
