House. Late C17. Rubble, C20 clay pantile roof with stone slates at eaves.
End baffle-entry plan. 2 storeys, 2 first-floor windows, with stair turret
at rear and cellar under right end. Ground floor: to left, 4-panel door in
deeply-projecting bolection surround on plinths. Two c1985 3-light double-
chamfered mullion windows. Cellar window in well to right. First floor:
blocked fire window above door; original 3-light double-chamfered mullion
windows with iron stanchions to outer lights. Shaped kneelers, ashlar
copings. Rebuilt brick end stacks. Interior: on ground floor to left,
brick inglenook fireplace with salt-box above baffle. Doors of 6 fielded
panels on ground floor; a 3-panel door to rear left bedroom. First-floor
stop-chamfered cross-beam and matching joists. Splat-baluster staircase
going right up into roof space. In roof, 3 curved-principal rafter trusses
and smoke hood. North Yorkshire and Cleveland Vernacular Buildings Study
