6/27 The Firkers
GV II
House. Early-mid C18. Coursed rubble, C20 pantile and Welsh slate roofs.
2 storeys with outshut, 2:1 first-floor windows. Main block: central C20
gabled open single-storey porch over board door. Side-sliding sash windows.
End stacks. Added lower range to right with quoins to right, 6-pane
casement first-floor window, Welsh slate roof, ashlar coping to right and
C20 stack to rear roof pitch. Rear: herringbone tooling on ashlar doorway.
Right return: board door on ground floor, blocked pitching door above.
Interior: entry onto flagged floor living room with C18 ashlar surround for
kitchen range to right; chamfered beams and joists; doors of 6 fielded
panels at front of house, board doors in outshut; open well staircase in
outshut. The lower range to right was formerly a cow-byre with hayloft
above. Included for group value.
