Coaching inn in the village street. C17, altered C18 and C19. Ashlar; double
Roman tiled roof. 2 storeys and cellars. 5 bays with rusticated end pilaster
to left: bays 2 and 4 are 2 storey canted bay windows, surmounted by coped
gables and saddle stones. Mid C19 large pane sash windows. Central segmental
headed carriage entry. Continuous string course over ground floor. West rear
wing: 2 storeys; 2 bays, glazing bar sash windows on ground floor (triple
window to left), casement windows with ovolo moulded mullions and surrounds on
first floor with nesting boxes between; central door in moulded surround. East
rear wing: 2 storeys; 4 bays, mixture of modern windows, 2-light casement with
moulded mullions and surround and a paired glazing bar sash window. Rear wing
enclosing the courtyard: rubble with corrugated iron roof (former stables and
barn). Interior: rear west wing has large hollow/ogee moulded fire surround
with square head; stop chamfered beams one with an edge roll moulding.
