TL 3856 COMBERTON WEST STREET
(North Side)

9/55 No. 10 (Thistle Down cottage

GV II

House. Probably late C17. Renovated mid C20. Timber-frame, now exposed,
with rendered infill and tiled roofs and gablet to one end. Ridge stack to
main range. Late C17 red brick with narrow central recess and repaired upper
courses. East-west hall range with contemporary crosswing. Hall of one
storey and attic. One mid C20 dormer and three mid C20 casements, one
possibly on site of the original doorway. Crosswing of two storeys and
attic. One casement to attic and two small pane horizontal sliding sashes to
each of the storeys. Side elevation includes one blocked three-light
casement at first floor and a mid C20 porch to doorway. Timber-framing of
fairly slender scantling with straight upward and downward bracing.
Staggered studwork over braces.
