House, formerly gardeners' bothy. Circa 1897-1900. By Romaine Walker
for Mr. Robert Hudson of Danesfield. Dressed chalk lower storey with
chalk mullion windows; upper storey roughcast and whitewashed with
wooden casements; plain tile roof with wooden bargeboards; brick chimneys
with 'V' pilasters and off-set heads. Picturesque L-plan building of
one storey and an attic. N. front has 3 bays, that to left gabled
and projecting with upper storey jettied on curved wooden brackets.
This bay has 2 paired casements to ground floor, and 7-light first-floor
oriel with moulded bressumer above. Centre bay has pair of 2-light
casements to ground floor, and 2-light gabled dormer. Right bay blind.
Board and stud door between right bays in 4-centred arch with carved
spandrels. Right gable has pair of 2-light ground floor windows and
5-light oriel above. Rear wing has similar windows, 2 similar doors,
and large external chalk stack to far end. Staircase in rear angle
originally external but enclosed with weatherboarding later C20.
