Lodge to Wittington. Circa 1898-1909. By Sir Reginald Blomfield for
Hudson Ewbanke Kearley. Red brick, chamfered quoins of Ham stone,
moulded wooden eaves, roof of Westmorland slate. Wooden mouldings
are carried round gables to form steep pediments with flint and
stone chequers, and whitewashed roughcast above windows. 2 brick
chimneys. L-plan, one storey and attic. Gable ends to road and
drive have 3-light leaded casements with gauged brick heads and
stone keyblocks to ground floor. Upper windows also leaded but with
moulded wooden cornices, the N. window of 4 lights with cornice arched
over 2 central lights. Right side of N. wing has recessed porch
with half-glazed door. Single light in N. wall of S. wing.
