House, now divided into 3 cottages. C16 or earlier, altered in C17 and Cl9.
Timber framed, plastered, roofed with handmade red clay tiles. 3-bay hall range
facing E, and 2-bay crosswing to left. Axial stack at the junction, late C16,
and C19 external stack on right return wall. C19/C20 2-storey extension with
slate roof behind hall range, C19 single-storey extension with hipp. roof behind
crosswing. 2 storeys. Kalon, the crosswing, has an underbuilt jetty and a one-
window range of C20 casements, the entrance being in the left return wall.
Shepherd's Place, the middle section, has one C20 bow window, on the first floor
one C20 casement, and a C20 lean-to porch with door at right side. Shepherd's
Cottage, the right end, has a one-window range of early C19 sashes of 16 lights,
and a 4-panel door with shallow hood on scrolled brackets. The hall range has
been raised approx. 1.5 metres in the C17, some smoke-blackened rafters being
re-used in the clasped purlin roof. Shepherd's Place has a bread oven at the
rear of tile main hearth. RCHM 36.
