Barn. C.1600. Timber framed, cement rendered and weatherboarded, roofed with
corrugated iron. 5 bays aligned E-W, extended to E by one bay in C19. Lean-to
extension to N of middle bay of original building. Jowled posts, heavy studding
with curved tension bracing trenched to the inside, face-halved and bladed
scarfs in top plates, clasped purlin roof with arched wind bracing. Arched
braces to tiebeams replaced by bolted knees. Originally there was a single
aisle to the N, and a midstrey also to the north. The aisle has been
demolished and studding inserted below the arcade plate. The lean-to extension
occupies the position of the former midstrey.
