7/20 The Lodge
GV II
House. 1847. Gault and red brick in Flemish bond, roofed with slate. Square
plan with 2 internal stacks symmetrically arranged facing approximately SW. 2
rear wings, the right one with an internal stack at the end, and C19
single-storey extension beyond. C19/20 extension to right with hipped roof and
splayed bay in right return. Small early C20 extension with flat roof to left
of main block, with large bow window in left return. 2 storeys. 1:1:1 window
range of original sashes of 16:12:16 lights in flat brick arches. Central
6-panel door, the top 2 panels glazed, with Greek Doric portico, fluted
pilasters and columns, flat roof with panelled soffit, triglyphs, moulded
cornice and guttae. Main elevation of gault brick, with corner pilasters,
remainder of red brick. Low-pitched hipped roof. The right return has on each
floor one blind aperture and one original sash of 16 lights in segmental
arches, and one C20 casement on the ground floor.
