handmade red clay tiles. Single range of attached cottages facing S, with one
axial stack to left of centre and one at right end. Probably 5 units
originally, 2 combined to form no. 4. Rear extensions. One storey with attics.
No. 2 (at the right end) has 2 C19 casements and 2 more in lean-to dormers.
No. 4 has one C19 horizontal sash of 16 lights, one C19 sash of 12 lights, and
one C19 casement and one C19 horizontal sash of 12 lights in lean-to dormers.
No. 6 has one sash of 16 lights, and one horizontal sash of 12 lights in a
lean-to dormer. No. 8 has one horizontal sash of 12 lights, and one C20
casement in a lean-to dormer. All the ground-floor windows have moulded stone
lintels. 5 identical late C19 4-panel doors, with 2 lights glazed with leaded
coloured glass (no. 4 having 2 doors). 3 late C19 porches (2 double, one single)
with gabled roofs supported on slender turned wooden stanchions. 2 courses of
red brick near top of front elevation. An attractive group with The Old School
House opposite; although windows have been changed at various periods the
original apertures remain undisturbed, and the scale of the present windows
remains consistent with the cottage character of the group.
