House. C16 or earlier, altered in C20. Timber framed, plastered, roof
thatched. 3 bays facing SE, with small lean-to extension to rear. Extended to
right by one bay, with C20 external stack at end. Large external stack at left
end rebuilt in C20, and C20 single-storey extension beyond. One storey with
attics. 3 horizontal sashes of 24 lights and 2 C20 casements, and 3 C20
casements in gabled dormers. The rear elevation has 3 C20 casements, 3 more in
gabled dormers, an exposed C16 chamfered plinth of red brick in English bond,
and exposed original groundsill. Studding exposed internally. Chamfered axial
and transverse beams with plain joists of horizontal section. Chamfered mantel
beam re-fitted in rebuilt end hearth. Original wattle and daub infill in
partition wall. Roof not inspected. At the time of the 1960 schedule the
exterlor was weatherboarded. Formerly Goldington's Farmhouse. RCHM 3.
