Range of 4 attached cottages. Early C19, altered in later C19 and C20. Timber
framed, roughcast rendered and plastered, with some weatherboarding, roofed with
handmade red plain tiles. Single range facing E with 3 axial stacks. Later C19
full-length single-storey lean-to extension to rear, roofed with slate, and 2
C20 single-storey wings beyond, roofed with corrugated asbestos. 2 storeys.
Ground floor, 4 mid-C19 sashes of 6 lights. First floor, 4 early C19 sashes of
16 lights and one small C19 casement or fixed light above door of no. 24. Nos.
22 and 26 have C20 half-glazed doors. No. 24 has a C19 half-glazed 4-panel
door. No. 28 has a plain boarded door. All the doors have C19 simple doorcases
and pediments on profiled brackets. Plaque 'Grange Hill Cottages' on first
floor at middle. Roof hipped at left end only. Roof structure of handsawn
hardwood. Included for group value.
