GV II

House, now range of 3 attached cottages. Early C17, altered in C19. Timber
framed, plastered, roofed with handmade red plain tiles. 2-bay crosswing to
left, main range to right, forming a rectangular plan facing E. 2 C19 axial
stacks in main range. 3 C19 rear wings, 2 of them with axial stacks. 2
storeys. 5-window range of early C19 sashes of 16 lights, with much crown
glass. 3 C19 half-glazed doors. Hipped roof. The crosswing has jowled posts,
and chamfered axial beams with lamb's tongue stops at both storeys; roof rebuilt
to align with that of main range. Shown on estate maps of 1639 and 1832 (Essex
Record Office, D/DOp, P.1 and D/DBs).
