4/7 King's Farmhouse

House. Circa 1600. Timber framed, plastered, roofed with handmade red clay
tiles. 4 bays facing W, the left bay slightly earlier than the remainder.
Original external chimney stack on left gable end, one C18 internal chimney
stack, one external stack at right end. 4-window range of C20 casements, 6-
panel door in C20 porch with octagonal posts and shallow pediment. The left
stack has roll mouldings at each stage, 4 on each side, and grouped diagonal
shafts. The interior has chamfered axial beams with lamb's tongue stops,
similar stops on the mantel beam of the left ground floor hearth, jowled posts,
some exposed framing, and one panel of original wattle and daub in attic. The
wallplates of the second stage are laid over those of the first stage. Both
roofs are of clasped purlin construction with curved wind bracing, some braces
missing. RCHM 9.
