Wrongly shown on O.S. map as nos. 1 and 2, Station Road. House. C14/15,
altered in C17 and C18. Timber framed, plastered, roofed with handmade red clay
tiles and grey slates. 2-bay crosswing facing SE, C14/15, of hall house which
formerly extended to the rear, demolished. Extended forward approx. 1 metre,
roof rebuilt, and central chimney stack inserted in early C17. C17/18
extensions to rear, on site of original hall. Single-storey extension at right
rear corner, C19/20. 2 storeys. 3-window range of late C18 sashes of 12
lights, with some crown glass. Central door with 6 raised and fielded panels
and moulded architrave, C18. The right ground floor room has plain joists of
horizontal section jointed to the bridging beam with central tenons, formerly
jettied to the right and pegged to the supporting wallplate, underbuilt in the
C17. The rear wall of the crosswing has curved braces halved across the studs,
weathered, now enclosed by the rear extension. A panel of C17 wattle survives
between the upper rooms. Edge-halved and bridled scarf in rear wallplate.
