5/47 and 6/47 The Swan Public House
GV II
House, now a public house. C16 and early C18. Partly timber framed and
plastered, partly of painted brick in Flemish bond, roofed with machine-made
clay tiles. L-plan facing N, the C16 wing to the left. One internal chimney
stack left of centre, and one at right end. Lean-to at rear, and single-storey
rear extensions. C20 flat-roofed single-storey extension at right. 2 storeys.
Ground floor, one splayed bay of sashes of 16-20-16 lights, 1 tripartite sash of
4-12-4 lights, 2 single-hung sashes of 12 lights, all early C19, half-glazed
door. First floor, 4 early C18 three-light windows with wrought-iron casements
and rectangular leaded glazing. Roof hipped. The interior of the left part
has moulded axial and transverse beams, and chamfered joists of horizontal
section with plain stops, C16.
