House, early C19. Gault brick and red brick, all Flemish bond, slate roof.
Double-pile near-square plan, aspect SE, with 2 internal chimney stacks
symmetrically disposed, and original rear wing to NW with end chimney stack.
2 storeys. Central 6-panel door with upper 4 panels glazed and rectangular
light over, in Tuscan porch. 2 double-hung sash windows of 16 lights on each
floor, and one of 12 lights above door. Hipped roof of shallow pitch with long
overhang, paired brackets below eaves. Symmetrical composition. Front
elevation, SW elevation and main chimneys of gault brick, the remainder of red
brick. SW (garden) elevation has double glazed doors in cast iron porch of
anthemion and scroll design, with one 16-light window on ground floor and one on
first floor, as in front elevation. All windows are original, and some contain
crown glass. First-floor window in NE elevation of service wing has an original
window of one wrought iron casement and one fixed light, with small rectangular
leaded panes. This house is an exceptionally unaltered example of its period.
