Clock and weighbridge tower with stables adjoining. Mid C19 for London Lead
Company. Coursed squared sandstone with ashlar dressings; graduated green
slate roofs. Tower 3 storeys, one bay, long stable range adjoining on left
return, one storey, 5 bays. Tower: high segmental-headed carriage arch with
voussoirs, abutting on adjacent house at right; with piers at left. Blank
first-floor below clock in louvred round-headed opening, with impost band
continuous. Louvred openings with flat stone lintels rest on this band.
Pyramidal roof has swept wide eaves. Stable range on left return has 2 late
C19 sashes in front 2 bays; brick extension, with garage doors further to left
not of interest.
Interior of tower arch shows quadrant brick piers in 2 left corners, each with
small cupboard door. Ground under arch has cast iron surround for weighbridge.
