Substantial lodge shown on O.S. map as Penshaw Lodge. Circa 1875. Buff brick
in English garden wall bond with red brick quoins and dressings; graduated
slate roofs and brick chimney stacks.

Entrance front: 2-storey left bay with taller projecting gabled cross-wing,
of 2 storeys and attic, to right. Stone plinth. Gabled wood porch set
diagonally at junction. Replaced 2- and 3-pane casements in original openings
with sloping sills and segmental heads. Gabled half dormer with pierced
bargeboards on left bay; attic window on cross wing. Steeply-pitched roof has
overhanging eaves and verges,pierced wavy bargeboards and crested ridge tiles.
Conjoined and corniced left end and ridge stacks. Slightly-projecting external
chimney-breast with offsets and flanking windows on left return. 2-storey,
one-bay gabled wing, with similar features, at right-angles on left rear.
