9/161 Tincleton Farm House

- II

Farmhouse. C16 origin (RCHM), extended to south in C18. Walls part rubble
stone, part flint and stone banding. Some brick patching at left (south)
end. Half hipped thatched roof. Stone stack with moulded cap just right of
door; also brick end stacks. One storey and attic. 6-panel part glazed
door. Ground floor has 4 casements with glazing bars, and evidence of
blocked window. Attic has four half dormers with similar casements, and
evidence of blocked window. 2 later rear wings, of brick, with thatched
roofs; one of these now links the house to a cottage at the rear - this not
of special interest. Interior not inspected, but according to RCHM contains

stop-chamfered lintel, and one on upper floor with 4-centred head and hearth
supported on moulded corbels. (RCHM Monument 4 Dorset Vol III)
