Gatehouse and stables and stable walls, now 2 houses. c1830
altered mid to late C20. Part multi-coloured stock brick, part
Roman cement; low pitched slate roof. Classical style. U-plan
with former stables and grooms accommodation on north-west.
C20 single storey extension in similar style on south-west.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys. 2 chimneys. Sash windows with glazing
bars. Entrance (south-east) front: 7 bays. Rusticated ground
floor; plinth with moulded string above; projecting band at
first floor and string at first floor sill level. Blocking
course and moulded cornice with low parapet. One bay central
feature slightly projecting with angle pilasters and pediment;
Venetian window with moulded architrave to centre arch and
Doric order at sides. Central round-arched carriageway below
through to yard. First-floor windows on either side have
moulded architraves with alternating triangular and segmental
pediments over; windows on ground floor have semicircular
heads. Pilasters at corners.
Rear (north-west) front: central projecting pediment with
round window over carriageway. One bay sash window on either
side with gauged brick arches. Paved courtyard at rear is
enclosed on the north-west with brick walls in Flemish bond,
and 2 gate piers with ball finials.
Side wings are in stock brick; each wing is 3 bays and has
gauged brick arches to sash windows.
