Large house now divided into 3. Early C19. Painted render,
hipped, slated mansard roof; sides of mansard are slated in a
fishscale pattern. French Renaissance style. Rectangular plan
with 2, square bay projections on south-east.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys and attics. Several chimneys with clay
pots, round arched dormers. Sash windows with glazing bars in
moulded architraves. Plinth, platband at first floor sill
level, blocking course, moulded cornice and balustraded
parapets.
Entrance (south-west) front: 7 bays. Projecting 3-bay
centrepiece with central double doors, mostly glazed with
sidelights and rectangular fanlight, reeded, Tuscan columns
and corresponding outer pilasters on rear wall. One-bay
section on each side of centrepiece with a 2-bay section set
back on left, and a single-storey, one-bay extension to left
of this.
Rear (garden) front: symmetrical. 3 bays. Centre section
recessed with garden entrance of panelled doors with
sidelights, small paned overlight and frieze with swags.
Tripartite window over at first-floor level.
INTERIOR: in the first house: a dog-leg staircase with curved
iron balusters, every 4th baluster coupled with leaf ornament.
Four 4-panelled double doors in entrance hall, with
semicircular beads, vase and floral carved panels over, egg
and dart enrichment to architraves. Drawing room: rococo
marble fireplace with floral enrichment. Ceiling decorated
with rococo plasterwork and moulded cornice. In the second
unit is a dark coloured rococo marble fireplace with hob grate
and cast-iron surround with floral embellishment.
