9/36 Sparks Farmhouse
II
Farmhouse, now cottage. C15 and C17 altered C19 and late C20. Timber
framed, partly encased in painted brick, part painted brick; irregular
tiled roof with gables and one hip. L-plan, 3 bays x 2 bay crosswing
hall in 2 westernmost bays, C17 stair turret, altered C20, on south.
One and a half storeys, large raked chimney on south wall, with re-
built head. 2 and 3-light early C20 metal casements on south, C19
wooden casements on north. Entrance front:- 3 bays on left with 3-
light C19 casements in tiled, gabled dormers; similar casements on ground
floor but deeper, with panelled entry door between and small flat hood.
One bay gable on right with good quality timber frame exposed. Interior:-
much of the frame exposed, and a 3-light C17 diamond mullioned window
exposed in kitchen on former external wall. C17 stairs altered, with
cut balusters and moulded newel posts.
