Public house and Smithy, now public house and restaurant. Late C17,
and C18, extended and altered in C19, altered late C20. Brick, ground
floor of the public house painted, old tile gabled roofs. L-shaped
with older part at rear. Public house: 2 storeys, attic in rear wing;
chimney on right end and end chimney at rear. 2 bays on front; C19
first floor casements, ground floor canted bays, the latter under a
continuous hipped tiled hood. Interior:- 4 beams visible with
chamfers and stopped ends. Queen post roof trusses. The restaurant
formerly the smithy adjoins on the east. One storey, 2 bays. On the
road front is a large sliding Yorkshire sash with glazing bars and one
other similar but C20 . A date panel to left of window lAA 1728.
Interior:- queen post roof trusses and rafters exposed; furnace and
chimney restored and complete.
