(formerly listed as Nos.
10, 10a and 11.)
GV II
Row of houses. Early C18, no. 16 probably a reworking of an earlier
structure. Colourwashed brick. C20 tile roof. 2-storeyed row bordering
road, with one storey and attics blocks projecting from rear. 8-window
facade, those to No.16 arranged asymmetrically, those to Nos. 18 and 20
(formerly a single house) arranged symmetrically. All are sashes with
glazing bars (some quite heavy) in almost flush moulded frames. Ground floor
ones are in segmental-headed openings. No.16 has off-centre doorway, Nos. 18
and 20 share single central doorway. Similar door surround to both,
consisting of engaged elliptical Tuscan columns supporting a plain
entablature, and flanking panelled reveals. Only No.16 retains original 6-
panel door surmounted by rectangular fanlight with ornamental glazing bars.
Variety of gable end and ridge stacks, one to No.16 almost in line with
doorway.
