Nos. 40 and 44 to 54 (even) form a group. Range of 3 cottages, mid to late
C19. Stock brick, Flemish bond, roofed with handmade red clay tiles. Aligned
approx. NW-SE, aspect SW, with 2 crosswings, forming an H-plan. 2 axial chimney
stacks in middle range. Single storey with attics. Central boarded door with
diamond pane, C20. In left crosswing, modern Regency style bow window. 3
casement windows with diamond leading, C20. On first floor, 4 similar casement
windows, of which the middle 2 are in gabled dormers, C20. An open single pitch
tiled canopy extends across the front between the crosswings, supported on 6
posts with arched braces. Course of dog-tooth brickwork immediately above it.
