Railway Viaduct at Unstone Sidings

Railway viaduct over the River Drone, built 1870 for the Midland Railway's Chesterfield to Sheffield Line, to the designs of the railways company's Engineer-in-Chief J.S Crossley. Massive rock-faced girtstone with brick linings to the seven stilted semi-circular headed arches which rise from tapering rectangular masonry piers. Voussoirs to arches terminate beneath broad plain band course and above, a shallow ashlar parapet with C20 railings.
