Farmhouse. Probably early C18, enlarged in the early C19. Some minor mid to late
C20 alterations. Rendered over stone rubble and some cob. Two-span gable-ended
scantle slate roof. Rendered end stacks with probably later red-brick top stages.
Plan: Double depth plan. Probably early C18 rear range with external end stacks and
probably early C19 2-room central-entrance plan front range with external end stack
to right and integral end stack to left. Outshut to left-hand gable end. Two
storeys.
Exterior: Plinth and parapet to front. Symmetrical 3-bay front; boxed 16-pane
glazing bar sashes with cills (central first-floor window narrower than outer
windows). Right-hand ground-floor sash replaced by C20 wooden cross window and left-
hand ground-floor sash replaced by C20 French casements. Central early C19 six-
panelled door (lower panels neaded flush, middle panels beaded and fielded and upper
panels glazed) with semi-circular fanlight. Evidence of former gabled porch (see
lines on wall above doorway). C20 lean-to conservatory in front of door and left-
hand French casements.
Interior: Front range has central early C19 three-flight rectangular-well staircase
with boarded-over balustrade and ramped handrail. Elliptical archway at foot of
stairs and to passageway leading to rear range. Early C19 six-panelled doors in
front range. Left-hand room in rear range (kitchen) has 2 chamfered cross beams. C18
doors in rear range, each with 6 raised and fielded panels. Pump in lean-to addition
at rear. Ground-floor reception rooms and first-floor rooms not inspected at time of
survey (December 1987).
