Pair of cottages. Late C17 with later alterations and extensions. Cob and
random rubble mix, rendered, under gabled-end roof, slated to each end, but with
wheat-reed thatch to middle section, this latter being the older part, the slated
ends C19; C20 rear leantos. Front: Old section a 3 window range; axial stack
with brick shaft; upper windows under shallow eyebrow eaves, all 2-light and
barred; two, three and one 2-light windows to ground floor, the middle one under
a depressed window arch; all barred. End extensions both with porches, that tc
the left latticed and slate-roofed, that to the right open with synthetic tiling;
half-dormer to left, and left-hand end stack. C19 casement windows to both end
elevations. Rear: lean-to and other C20 additions, but also a newel stair
turret. Interior: chamfered beams to both cottages, that to right-hand with
run-out stops. Latter also with fireplace, the lintel similarly stopped.
Original treads and risers might survive under fitted carpet. Roof: (ceiled, but
partly visible from upper rooms) with large principals, trenched purlins; collars
pegged and halved.
